Robert K. Killian and Kelley Peck Esq. Our moderator will be Suzanne Brown Walsh of Murtha Cullina, LLP\n \n \n \nRobert K. Killian served as Judge of the Probete Court for the District of Hartford from November of 1984 until April 2015.  Bob, as he is called, was admitted to practice law in Connecticut in 1972 and the District of Columbia in 1974. He is also admitted to practice before Connecticut’s Federal District Court; U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals; U.S. Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court. He was honored in 1990 as Connecticut’s Outstanding Probate Judge and has been listed for over 30 years as one of Connecticut’s Pre-eminent Attorneys by Martindale & Hubbell.\n \nKillian graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York and received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1972 where he was elected to the Law Journal. While in Washington, he served as the Washington Bureau Chief for WTIC AM/FM and TV3.  Before that, he worked for WCBS, New York; WGY/WRGB Schenectady and WTRY Troy, New York. From 1972 to 1974, Killian served as a Special Assistant to Senator Abraham A. Ribicoff.\n \nHe is a member of the National Academy of Probate Judges, the National College of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the Hartford County, the Connecticut and American Bar Associations and the Connecticut and American Trial Lawyers Associations.  He is past Chair of the ABA National Conference of Specialized Court Judges Probate Court Committee.  \n \nKillian was appointed by former Chief Justice Ellen Peters to the Judicial Council on Attorney Ethics; was a member of the Connecticut Investment Advisory Council (1995-1999); and for  25 years a member of the executive committee of the Connecticut Probate Assembly and chaired committees which drafted legislation which revised laws relating to the developmentally disabled, Conservators,  the Right to Die, Insolvent Estates, Streamlining Probate Practice and landmark proposals to reduce the number of probate districts from 138 to 54. His service as a member of the Probate Rules Committee continues. Following the Newtown tragedy, the Connecticut General Assembly appointed Killian to serve on its Behavioral Health Task Force. \n \n \n \nAttorney Kelley Galica Peck focuses her practice in the areas of estate and trust planning and probate law. Kelley has significant experience working with individuals and families to plan for the management, protection, and transfer of wealth, including succession planning for owners of closely-held businesses. She handles complex charitable gift planning, estate planning for nontraditional families, planning for protection and preservation of assets, and estate, gift and income tax return preparation and review. Kelley also represents individual and professional fiduciaries and beneficiaries in probate courts.\n \nKelley is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and is an adjunct professor of law at Western New England University School of Law in the Master of Laws (LLM) program. Kelley also is recognized as a Notable Practitioner by Chambers and Partners in the inaugural issue of its High Net Worth Guide and was named among the 2017 Best Lawyers in America for Trusts and Estates.\n \nKelley earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Western New England University School of Law in Estate Planning and Elder Law, her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree, summa cum laude, from Western New England University School of Law, and her Bachelor of Science in Political Science (B.S.), magna cum laude, from Florida Southern College.  Kelley is admitted to practice in Connecticut and before the US Tax Court.\n \nPlease join us for what will be a highly informative and enjoyable meeting.
