The Connecticut Economy

 

Dr. Steven P. Lanza is a research associate University of Connecticut’s Department of Economics.  He serves as executive editor of The Connecticut Economy, a quarterly journal committed to providing residents of Connecticut with objective analyses of data, issues, and developments in the state’s economy.

 

Dr. Lanza teaches applied regional analysis and other courses in the Economics Department at UConn and manages the production, publication and distribution of the Quarterly. His research, which has been cited by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, and has appeared in Economic Development Quarterly, Applied Economics Letters and elsewhere, uses econometrics and other analytical methods to better understand Connecticut’s economy. He has developed indexes of prices, housing affordability, and economic performance, and forecasts of state and regional economic activity. 

 

Dr. Lanza serves as an advisor to the Connecticut Department of Labor on current economic trends and prospects and has also served on Governor M. Jodi Rell’s Council of Economic Advisors and on Governor Dannel Malloy’s Business Tax Task Force. He is currently Vice President of the Hartford Area Business Economists, an organization for which he previously served as Vice President of Programs.

 

Dr. Lanza received his B.A from Union College, M.B.A. from Cornell University, and his J.D. and Ph.D. (in Economics) from the University of Connecticut.
