Please join us for what will be a timely and important discussion of:   Estate Planning, Wealth Transfer Strategies and Probate: A Recap of 2012 and Predictions for 2013. Items to be covered include, Maximizing the $5mm exemption, 2013 changes to federal estate tax law and 2013 CT Legislative proposals including new rules for CT probate practice.
 
Our speaker: Jeffrey A. Cooper is a tenured Professor of Law at Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he teaches coursework related to estate planning, wills and trusts, and related areas of taxation. He also has taught related courses at Yale Law School.
 
Professor Cooper received his B.A. in Government, magna cum laude, from Harvard College, his J.D. from Yale Law School and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
 
A frequent lecturer, Professor Cooper has authored numerous articles on various topics relating to estate planning, probate and taxation. His articles have been published in Law Journals across the country, excerpted in prominent casebooks and treatises, and reprinted both in the U.S. and abroad
.
In addition to his scholarly achievements, Professor Cooper has extensive practical experience, including over a decade practicing law as a partner of a major law firm and serving as a senior officer of the United States Trust Company. While in private practice, he was elected by his peers to the inaugural list of Connecticut “Super Lawyers,” an honor reserved for the top 5% of practicing attorneys statewide.
 
Professor Cooper is a member of the Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts bars, and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the Internal Revenue Service. He is also an Academic Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).
